Tomorrow is a big day. Mom is having what we like to call her "RE-DO" surgery. Just for those that haven't been keeping up with us......(the short version)
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer after a biopsy was done on some 'questionable' areas that showed up on her annual mammogram. She had a lumpectomy to remove the mass in her right breast and a syntinal node biopsy to determine if the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. The initial reports were optimistic that the nodes were not infected and the doctor felt sure he got clear margins........BUT........the final pathology report came back stating that there was indeed cancer in the lymph nodes and the margins were NOT clear!!!! SO....now, after completely healing from the first surgery, she has to go back in and have more tissue removed from her breast and have a complete auxiliary lymph node dissection.....hence the title "RE-DO"!! Once recovered from that, she will have to go through multiple weeks of chemo and then radiation. FUN FUN FUN!!!!
She has to be at the hospital tomorrow by 8...surgery is at 10....hopefully we will be home by mid-afternoon!! Please be thinking about us and praying for her!! I will keep everyone posted!!
