Home at last!

The doctor did end up letting mom go home last night....yeah!!! She is doing...okay...she is in a good bit of pain and has very little mobility of her right arm due to the lymph node dissection...but the meds seem to be helping! She is doing better about resting than she was after the first surgery, and we think that will help too! She has a follow-up apt with her surgeon on Monday and hopefully by then he will have the pathology report back on the nodes which will determine how long she will have to undergo chemo and it will also help him determine her prognosis and chance of re-occurrence.

Dad is doing wonderful as the "caretaker".....only fainted once so far!!!! yes, you read that right....while we were at the hospital, the nurse came in to teach us how to empty her drain (which we weren't prepared for) and Ashley (my brother) ran out the door, and my dad hit the floor!!! At that point, I was caring for 2 weenies and one true patient......yeah, I know I'm that good!!!! All joking aside, Dad is doing really well with everything and is going to be off work this week taking care of mom with me and Sharon (my sister) cooking and cleaning.

Thanks again to Brad for dealing with the kids all day yesterday and also for driving 3 hours round trip to bring them to me late last night.....you are a life saver....I love ya!

Thanks also to all of you for thinking of us and praying for mom.....keep it up!!! This is going to be a long, tiring, frustrating year!!!

I certainly wasn't prepared after this surgery! As I sat on the hospital floor; with my head spinning, my stomach aching, crying, praying and asking "why didn't I have the strength for this," I realized that it wasn't about ME! This was something that I HAD to do. I will get through this and so will Faye. With wonderful help from my family and all my friends, everything will be OK. I love y'all. Thank you for all you have done, and all you will do.
